Want to work with us?

Austella are at the forefront of virtual reality and immersive content development and as such are enjoying rapid growth. We are currently working on a number of exciting projects, including educational experiences, corporate sales tools, VR games and AR marketing tools. We develop for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Sony PSVR, Google Daydream, Samsung GearVR, OSVR and Infinitus Prime.

Our tools of the trade are predominantly Unity and Unreal Engine, although we use other engines where the project demands.

We are always on the look out for talented developers, we don’t necessarily look for VR experience (although that’s a bonus!) but more to individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, a hunger to learn and above all, someone who enjoys technology and helping others to benefit from their knowledge.

If you feel this is you, then please say hi!

Senior Developer

We are looking for a strong Unity/Unreal-experienced developer initially for a 3-month contract, potentially moving to perm for the right candidate.

About the role

The position is based in our Ascot, Berkshire office working alongside the existing team on an educational VR experience for a large US client.

The role is initially temporary but our intention is to make this a permanent role as the project extends beyond the current brief. The project is for a large US-based broadcaster who are renowned for providing education material to schools across the globe. The person will be expected to work alongside the Creative Producer to create a number of interactive elements (mini-games/puzzles, exploration, artefact collection…) that facilitate learning.
The project will demand contact with the end client so being comfortable interacting at senior management level is essential, the client is not technical so an ability to translate complex jargon into layman-speak is required.

The Person we would like

  • Strong C# skills
  • 3+ years experience in Unity and/or Unreal
  • VR experience (Oculus & Daydream preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Based in or within commuting distance of Ascot, Berkshire
  • Able to autonomously work in a small team
  • A keen interest in history would be a bonus but not essential
  • Keen to share experience and expertise with the wider team

Looking for a different role?

We are continually looking for talented developers, our preferred approach that has served us well in the past is to work with freelancers on initially a temporary contract with a view to moving permanent following a period of successful delivery. Roles that we are in continual need of include 3D Artists, Unity/Unreal Programmers, Illustrators and Animators. Please feel free to send us your CV giving examples of your previous work, along with your availability and we will come back to you as and when we have something suitable.
